A leading center for rainforest research, the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a lovely, nine-acre paradise that is sure to impress both the plant enthusiast and the nature lover alike. The gardens feature more than 20,000 plants from around the world including orchids, hibiscus, bromeliads, palms and many tropical plants.
In addition to the breathtaking gardens, you will find 16th -20th century botanical arts displayed in the museum. This is one of Hannerle's favorite spots in Sarasota. Box lunches served daily in the Banyan Grove.

Come face to face with Florida marine life at Mote Aquarium. Whether you enjoy watching the sharks in their 135,000-gallon tank or petting the stingrays in their touch pool, there is much to see and do as you learn about the fascinating creatures that inhabit our waters. The aquarium is also home to Hugh and Buffett, Mote's resident manatees. Our viewable labs offer visitors a chance to see research in action.

Each year the Pelican Man’s Bird Sanctuary plays host to thousands of injured and orphaned birds. Once rehabilitated, most are released back into the wild, although the permanently injured do stay on as residents. With over 300 birds and more than 50 species, this is definitely a must-see for bird lovers.
Hannerle strongly believes in the extraordinary work of the Pelican Man's sanctuary and its volunteers. Among the residents, you will find pelicans, hawks, owls, ospreys, herons and songbirds to name a few. Located next to Mote Marine Aquarium on City Island, admission suggested donation: Adult $6, Children (12-17) $4 and Children (4-11) $2.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens is ten lush, tropical acres that flamingos, exotic birds, monkeys, lemurs, leopards and other creatures call home. Filled with jungle trails, beautiful gardens and crystal blue lakes, this Sarasota attraction is sure to be a lovely experience for visitors of all ages. Visitors will also find a petting zoo, shell museum and a children's “Kiddy Jungle”, in addition to the daily bird and reptile shows.
Sarasota Jungle Gardens is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is located two blocks west of Tamiami Trail and two miles north of the Sarasota bayfront.
